Overview
Simple Count is a countdown widget app for iOS. Your privacy is
important to us. This policy explains what data Simple Count does
and does not collect.
Data Collection
Simple Count does not collect, transmit, or share any personal
data with us. All information you enter — event names, dates,
notes, photos, and settings — is stored locally on your device
and, if you are signed in to iCloud, in your own personal
iCloud (see iCloud Sync and Count Down Together below). We
cannot access any of it.
The only data that ever becomes visible to anyone else is what you
explicitly share with the optional Count Down Together and
Send a Copy features described below.
What Is Stored Locally
- Event names, dates, and notes, including note sections and
checklists - Event photos, and photos and files you add to notes (stored on
your device) - Reminders, app settings, and preferences
iCloud Sync
From version 2.4.0, Simple Count keeps your countdowns the same on
all your devices (for example your iPhone and iPad) by storing
them in your personal iCloud account. This also brings them
back if you delete and reinstall the app or move to a new device.
Sync is on by default and works only while you are signed in to
iCloud on your device. (Versions before 2.4.0 call this iCloud
Backup and store a backup copy in the same place.)
- What is synced: your countdowns with their notes, note sections
and checklists, their photos, the photos and files you add to
notes, and your reminders, pins, and confetti settings. - It is stored in your private iCloud database on Apple's
servers, under Apple's iCloud terms of service. - We cannot access, read, or receive this data. Apple does not
give app developers access to users' private iCloud databases. - It uses your iCloud storage, not our servers — Simple Count has
no servers. - You can turn sync off at any time in Settings → iCloud inside
the app. Your countdowns then stay on that device only. What is
already in iCloud stays there, so your other devices keep syncing,
until you delete it. - Delete iCloud Data, in the same place, removes your
countdowns from iCloud and from your other devices that sync with
it. Countdowns on the device you are using are kept. - If you sign out of iCloud, your own countdowns stay on your
device and stop syncing. - After you update from an earlier version, the old backup copy is
deleted from your iCloud once your countdowns are stored for sync. - Countdowns you share with other people are described under Count
Down Together below.
Optional Sharing: Count Down Together
Count Down Together (from version 2.3.0) lets you share a countdown
with people you choose, so that everyone sees the same countdown
and every change to it. It only happens when you start or join one
yourself. When you use it:
- The shared countdown — its name, date and time, emoji, card
style, repeat setting, note, and photo, if it has one — is stored in
the private iCloud database of the person who started it, using
Apple's iCloud sharing (CloudKit). It counts toward their iCloud
storage. - From version 2.4.0, this includes the countdown's note sections
and checklists, and any photos and files added to its notes.
Everyone in the shared countdown can see and change them. - You invite people by sending them a link, through any app you
choose (for example Messages or WhatsApp). Anyone who has the link
can join and see and change these details, and the link shows the
countdown's name and picture to whoever has it. The person who
started it can remove people, or make it invite-only, at any time. - Everyone in a shared countdown can see the names of the other
people in it, as Apple's iCloud provides them. If the person who
started it makes it invite-only and adds people directly, Apple uses
the contact details they choose (such as an email address or phone
number) to deliver the invitation. - Reminders, pins, and confetti settings are never shared with
other people. From version 2.4.0 they sync only between your own
devices, through your own iCloud (see iCloud Sync). - The person who started it can stop sharing or delete it for
everyone at any time. Anyone else can leave at any time, which
removes it from their devices. - If you sign out of iCloud, shared countdowns are removed from
your device. They come back when you sign in again with the same
Apple Account. - We cannot access, read, or receive shared countdowns. They are
stored by Apple under Apple's iCloud terms of service, and Simple
Count has no servers.
Optional Sharing: Send a Copy
Send a Copy ("Send to a Friend" in the app) is available only in
versions before 2.3.0. From version 2.3.0, Simple Count no longer
uploads copies; it can still open links sent from older versions,
which only reads the copy. In older versions, Send a Copy sends
someone a separate copy of a countdown. The copy is not linked:
later changes are not shared. When you use this feature:
- The selected event data (name, date, emoji, card style, repeat
and reminder settings, note, and optionally a photo) is uploaded to Apple's iCloud (CloudKit)
infrastructure. - A unique share link is generated. Anyone with this link can
import the event into their own copy of Simple Count. - The link stops working after 7 days. The copy is then deleted
from iCloud, at the latest 30 days after you sent it. We delete
expired copies without opening them. - You control when and what you share. This feature is never
triggered automatically.
This data is stored on Apple's servers under Apple's iCloud terms
of service. Simple Count does not have its own servers and does
not access or log shared data beyond what Apple's CloudKit
provides.
Third Parties
Simple Count does not use any third-party analytics, advertising
SDKs, or tracking tools.
The iCloud sync and sharing features use Apple CloudKit
(Apple's own cloud infrastructure). No data is shared with any
other third party.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled and delivered entirely by iOS on your
device. No notification data is sent to any server.
For iCloud sync and shared countdowns, Apple's iCloud sends your
device a silent signal when a countdown changes on another device,
so it can update. This goes from Apple to your device and contains
no countdown data.
Children's Privacy
Simple Count does not collect data from anyone, including children
under 13.
